About This Place

Located in the heart of Beach Haven, NJ, Tuckers Tavern is a standout American restaurant that masterfully combines fresh coastal ingredients with inviting ambiance and expertly crafted cocktails. Whether you’re seeking a relaxed lunch or a lively dinner spot, Tuckers Tavern offers a memorable culinary experience set against the picturesque backdrop of Long Beach Island.

The cuisine at Tuckers Tavern is a celebration of local seafood and creative American fare, with standout dishes that delight both the palate and the eye. Diners rave about the Shipyard Ale Battered Fish & Chips, a crispy yet tender treat that perfectly captures the essence of seaside comfort food. The Doz Oysters are fresh and briny, ideal as a light starter or paired with one of their inventive cocktails like the Mint Chocolate Chip Martini or the refreshingly vibrant Watermelon Mint Martini.

For those craving something hearty and soulful, the Pulled Pork Sandwich and the juicy Tuckers Burger offer rich flavors that are deeply satisfying without overwhelming. On the lighter side, the Seafood Cobb Salad boasts an enticing medley of gulf shrimp, lump crab, and wood-grilled salmon atop crunchy greens, delivering a perfect balance of freshness and indulgence. The menu’s Soup & Salad selections also stand out—especially the award-winning Bay Scallop & Clam Chowder, served with flamin’ hot oyster crackers, and the Super Frico Caesar salad, which features manchego cheese and warm panzanella croutons for a comforting yet inventive twist.

Entrees like the Local Flounder Piccata and Pan Roasted Local Scallops showcase the chef’s attention to detail through harmoniously blended flavors—the tangy lemon-caper butter and creamy crab orzo pairing remarkably enhances the delicate flounder, while scallops come nestled amid pearled barley and celery root purée, accentuated by a bright gremolata. Each bite here is a delightful journey of textures and seasonality.

The atmosphere at Tuckers Tavern echoes the charm found within its dishes. Guests consistently praise the upper deck’s inviting outdoor seating, offering breathtaking sunset views that make each meal feel like a special occasion. The gentle evening breeze mingles with the sound of live summer tunes, creating an ambiance that's both relaxing and subtly festive. As Dorothy Elizabeth shared, enjoying a Saturday night dinner there with a pupster in tow, “The sunset was breathtaking as was the seafood! Cocktails were delicious and perfectly balanced.”

Service is another highlight—attentive yet unobtrusive, with staff who are knowledgeable and genuinely care about guests’ needs, including accommodating food allergies with ease and warmth. Joseph Salerno’s experience reflects this dedication: “Our server was very attentive, knowledgeable and made my daughter feel at ease when we told her about her food allergies.” This level of thoughtful hospitality only elevates the overall dining experience.

While the indoor bar area has drawn some mixed reactions, the vibrant rooftop-esque outdoor seating more than compensates with sweeping views and energetic vibes. Whether you’re savoring classics like the Lump Crab Cake Sandwich or trying inventive small plates such as the Lamb Tacos, Tuckers Tavern promises a welcoming environment infused with coastal flair.

For those indulging in sides, options like Truffled Herb Polenta, Lager Battered Onion Rings, and Grilled Asparagus with Horseradish Remoulade offer satisfying complements that add layers of flavor and texture to any meal. Pair your dish with a glass from their thoughtfully curated wine list or a signature cocktail to complete your table’s ensemble.

In every aspect, from the vibrant, fresh seafood to the refreshing cocktails and the exceptional service, Tuckers Tavern feels genuinely rooted in its beach community while inspiring guests with top-tier dining. It’s no wonder repeat visitors like Bruce Trommelen declare it as excellent on every return visit, and Joseph Iacono calls it “an absolute gem.” Whether you’re a local or just passing through Long Beach Island, Tuckers Tavern welcomes you with open arms and a plate full of memorable flavors.

Went for Saturday night dinner with our Pupster! We sat on the upper deck, arrived close to sundown! The sunset was breathtaking as was the Seafood! The seafood salad was scrumptious and large enough for two! Salmon, shrimp and lump crab meat on top of cob salad …cocktails were delicious… He had the Watermelon Mint Martini light and refreshing I had Tuckers Tikitini light flavors mixed well!

Our experience was fun, enjoyable and memorable. Our server was very attentive, knowledgeable and made my daughter feel at ease when we told her about her food allergies. She told us that she would notify the chef to keep all of our dinners safe. Upper deck outside seating with the evening breeze and summer tunes was completely relaxing, added to the excellent food and service. Cold salads, warm meals, frosty beverages ... couldn't ask for a better night. Visit for an early dinner or a late lunch to minimize your wait time. And don't forget about their happy hour in the welcoming inside bar Mon - Fri from 3 to 6pm, tasty appetizers and select drinks!

Not a very large menu. Tucker’s Tavern is an absolute gem in Long Beach! From the moment you walk in, the coastal charm and warm atmosphere make you feel right at home. The seafood is fresh and flavorful—especially the crab cakes and lobster roll—and the cocktails are top-notch. Service is friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Whether you’re here for a casual lunch or a lively dinner, Tucker’s delivers every time. Can’t wait to come back!

Tucker’s Tavern was the perfect first meal for our first time in LBI. We sat in the outdoor area with high-top seating—it gave off rooftop vibes even though the actual rooftop was closed. The oysters and tuna tacos were excellent, and the coconut-tini was incredible. The blueberry drink, on the other hand, tasted like water. The inside bar looked a bit depressing, but we didn’t sit there, so who cares? Service was good, and overall it was just a perfect beach lunch.

First time at this old LBI mainstay, very much impressed by the old English and New Jersey maritime design. This classic waterfront tavern did not disappoint, we were seated and served throughout by very friendly and knowledgeable servers and staff. We began our meal with their signature scallop and seafood chowder along with a bowl of the evening’s special vegetable and orzo soup, both were excellent and heartwarming on a cold damp afternoon on the island. We then moved on to have the fish and chips, crispy, fresh and flaky cod, perfectly cooked, a very decent burger topped with chopped short rib, probably better with just hamburger or just short rib but still okay, I also ordered their flatbread pizza with ricotta, onions and arugula which was very good. We loved the atmosphere and decor of this classic LBI establishment and can’t wait to sit outside when the weather warms up.

Cool atmosphere, maritime themed dining room that reminds me of the shore many years ago. Food is good, not the best on the island but not bad by any stretch either. Full bar with cocktails and lots of beers on tap. Fish and chips for me and wife got the flounder. Lots of good appetizer options and menu has a lot of overall variety.
